Alternate PCV for better idle quality?

Back in my hotrod SBC days I put a small gate valve in the PCV line which allowed me to adjust the PCV valve flow. I adjusted the idle circuits for max vacuum accordingly.

As you are tuning, keep in mind that totally shutting down the PCV flow to the engine will result in a rich condition on the primary side, and may result in the need to lean out the jets a size. But having said that, I still was never satisfied with what I perceived to be an imbalance of the mixture supplied to the engine. I thought simply dumping the PCV flow into the manifold was bound to create a "wandering lean condition" as I called it, the result of that unmixed air not completely mixing with the incoming gas/air mix.

To that end, I did manage to smooth out my idle a bit by eliminating the PCV altogether and going road-draft for crankcase ventilation.

It is anyway; there's virtually no vacuum at WOT to draw it out. Unless of course you have so much blowby at WOT that it gets blown into the manifold....
