i recently rebuilt my 200 and it has about 5000 on it after the rebuild. When i am stopped and then start again, a large amount of smoke puffs out of the left side exhaust (i have split headers so this would be 1-3 or
4-6, i havent looked) but then dissipates as RPM and speed increases - well i don't know if it decreases or i just can't see it. The smoke is white. I have had problems with my head sealing before, but i do not know if this is the problem know. It uses A LOT of oil, about 1 quart per tank of gas!! I have before simply dealt with the problem, but know that i am about to add NOS or super it i think this problem needs addressing. Thanks much in advance for the help

I would try a compression test to check the rings. Maybe they did not seat all the way? That is an awful lot of oil to be burning.

Well firstly, if the smoke comming out is white its most likely water. Oil

burns blue smoke. If your rings are holding up fine it could be either the

valve seals or valve guides. Have someone drive behind you and tell you

when the smoke is comming out. If it commes out when you first start

accelerating and dies off but commes back when youre decelerating its

most likely the guides. if it just smokes when you step on the gas its the

seals. I had the same problem with mine. I had it rebuilt and the guy

didnt replace any of the exhaust seals. :x :arg:
