Another cylinder head question

8) Does the 289/302 have a close enough or correct bore spacing to be cut, furnaced welded and attempt to create a new head for a 200?
This would create a cross flow head with many cheap parts out in the market. Just a thought

8) as i recall the bore spacing on the ford small block(all of them from the 221 to the 400) is 4.38", which is too large compared to the small six. also oyu run into the problem that the combustion chambers are designed for an engine with a 4" bore, and the largest bore the six has is 3.68". s you would have to cut up a 221, 255, or 260 head(3.50, 3.68, and 3.80 bores respectively). i think the work and money required for the job is way too much for the benefits gained. better to have mike sell you an aussie head.

Some people have this uncanny ability to get their hands on large numbers of old parts cheap. Find one, make friends and get all the old heads you need to make your attempt, but give you new friend the due credit for supplying the heads

8) I have a set of 1965 289 heads taking up space. Thought of cutting them and trying to set them up to bolt to a 200. Would a 200 take 4" sleeves? They might be a siamese set up will minimal cooling though.

Unless your name is AL der Hackmiester, I agree.

The best option is the alloy head conversion Jack has done.
