Autolite 1101 on a 200? Problems

Are we sure that the Autolite 1101 fits on the 1100 carb base? I radiused out the inside of the base so the butterfly operates, but the 1101 seems much wider than the outside of the 200ci base.

I noticed a little white smoke coming out of the base when I shut off the engine. I'm guessing that there is a vacuum leak in one or both of the little channels on the bottom of the carb.

This is a Pony Carbs fresh rebuild. The car started right up after sitting for a few years. It ran pretty darn good with the air cleaner off. But when I put the air cleaner on, it would stall and wouldn't start easily. I was at a remote garage and didn't have anything to spray on the base to test for vacuum leak.

Any thoughts? Anyone have a 1101 base?

Howdy Back Paul:

Yes, I put a '69 1101 on my '65 200, wlong with a distributor from '68. Other then clearancing the top of the adapter to clear the larger butterfly it bolted on cleanly.

I'd recommend that you check for a vacuum leak on the adapter. Also make sure that the air cleaner is not plugged and not interfering with the choke or the linkage.

Adios, David
