hey
looking at running a twin cam 4l in a car iam just starting to build for speedway.
now here's the problem i have come across
acl dont make race series pistons for the n/a engine yet but they do have a set of forged ones for the turbo which dro comp down to 8.5:1 which no good to me.
now is the turbo head have a larger cc chamber or same as the n/a.
if same can you shave 40/50 thou off the head with out having timing chain issues and piston to valve issues.
and does anyone make cams for them yet?

Im not an expert on the subject but felt compelled to reply as no-one had yet. As far as I know the pistons should be interchangeable.

Just run the STD pistons, they are a hypereutectic piston with moly coated skirts I have been told. People have already been upping the rev limits on their STD turbo motors, so I cant see how they'd need replacing in an NA application. For the price, why not just run an AU motor? They use the same long rod, hypereutectic pistons with moly coated skirts and they have better flowing heads than the earlier motors. You can also fit the pre AU rockers into them to run the wide selection of cams available to suit these motors.

I take it this isnt going in the corty?

hey
yeah it whould be going in the corty but for speedway not road.
and its not so much that the standerd pistons arnt any good its just id give it a bore out to say 20 to get all the clearence's the same etc.
but i have found out when invistgated the rules that i couldent run inj in the corty so iam just building a 250 now.
might look at a n/a ba for the project car but and i figure if iam going to all the troble to fit a 4l it mise as well be the latest and greatest one.
