My buddy is going to buy a rebuilt carb for his 65 Ranchero with 200 and C4. The motor doesn't have a carb on it to get the number off of. Can anyone tell me the best bolt on replacement carb for a 200? Is there one with an electric choke? The motor is bone stock. A tag number would be helpful.
Thanks,

Howdy MikeA:

My 1st choice would be an Autolite 1101, used on 250s in the 1969 model year only. It will flow 215 cfm as opposed the the stock 1100 Autolite of '65 of 185 cfm. It does not have a Spark Control Valve in it for the '65 Load-a-matic distributor, but you'd do well to move up to a later distributor too. Carb tag code would be- manual trans C9OF-B, auto trans C9OF- A.

Both have a vacuum assist, exhaust heated choke.

Other than that, a stock Autolite 1100 would be adequate for your purposes.

Adios, David

Thanks David,
This site is awsome for getting the little details to all these questions.

Mike,
You'd do well also to get the Performance manual noted in david's reply.
It is a little, by some standards, manual but I don't know wehn I've found so many good ideas in one place. It will be the best money you ever spent. I've laminated mine and put in notebook for garage work. Use a grease pencil for notes and etc as I use it. FWIW DaveP

Mike - Totally off topic - but what does your trailor weigh in at ?

Ive toyed with the idea of pulling a teardrop behind the ranchero but I worry about doing so with such a little car.

The teardrop weighs about 800 lbs dry. I figure we add about another 200 lbs in camping trim, not counting ice chests and gear hauled in the tow vehicle. I pulled it around all last summer in our 3.8 Taurus without problems.
