XE to AU Falcons had the "marriage of convienence" Watts linkage which had no traingulated upper links to the diff centre.
The Cortina (post 72 to pre TF in 1980), Centura (1974-1978) Commodore (1984- 1997) and Pintara/Skyline (1985-1993?) run similar BW 78 diffs with angled links on the top of the axle. Check the widths of the track, and PCD'S, ratios.
*four stud 108 PCD is Cortina, 1422 mm wide (2.77,2.92,3.23,3.5,3.7[4 cyl ])
*5 stud Centura was 114.3mm, not sure how wide, pos 1420 ish (2.77,2.92,3.23,3.5)
*A five stud with 120 mm PCD is Commodore, 1440 mm (VK)or 1505, (VN, VP etc. VP on had more offset. 3.08,3.27 (RARE),3.45:1, 3.9:1(NZ 4-cyl 88-90 VN4). Had a Panhard rod mount from rhs to the body.
*four stud 114.3 is Pintara/Skyline, 1395 mm wide track (3.45,3.7,3.9,4.1[Pintara]).May have had a Panhard rod too, can't remember.
Chryslers had Axxxxx code tags on the axle, as did Ford
and thats all I can think of. Oh, and post 96, most were type A diffs with different spline counts (28 rather than 25) and some earlier diff pinions are a different length of threads on the input shaft. Some had crushable spacers, others collaspable.
Hope this helps you Adam.
