Cable Throttle Linkage Installed.....

With my newly installed Holley 2300 (350cfm) I finally decided to use a cable throttle linkage. It was really the best solution anyway. I actually used the pedal and cable from a '90 or '91 Grand Marquis. After I removed all the mechanical linkage, I was able to use some of the existing holes for the new set-up. I only had to drill three holes in the firewall for the cable and mounting plate. I had to move the fuse box to make room for the new pedal, but that was pretty much it. I ran the cable down the driver's side of the engine and straight across to the carburetor linkage. I have temporarily mounted the cable bracket, at the carb end, to the metal guide for the PVC line on top of the valve cover. I will weld something a bit more permanent later.

This a great improvement over the original linkage set-up. I know a lot of folks fight with linkage ideas when they adapt new carbs to their 200CIDs. The cable set-up just makes sense and is really quite easy to do.

As far as the new Holley carb goes.......WOW! I find it much better than the H/W I was using.

So you like the 2300 eh? The H/W was a pretty good improvement over the stock carb in the driveability department but you know what? I got alot more top end from the 1 bbl carb. Maybe a shift to the 2300 is needed. Then again, two of those would be waaayyy too much!

Ronbo, If performance is what you're after, on a medium built up 200, the Holley 2300 is definitely the way to go. The improved torque and top end are very impressive. I will be heading back to the track soon to compare numbers over the last time I was there, about three weeks ago.

Which or what carb adapt did you use??
I'm currently running the H/W 5200 but just picked up a Holey2300 for a good price and am curious on the difference between the two.
$70 for the Clifford adapt is a little more than I want to pay just to test.
I have the cable set up so it should be an easy swap.

Glen, Clifford also has an adapter plate that you can attach to you exist H/W adapter. They don't list it, but they do have one. That's what I'm using. It's 3/8" thick, so you may need to use a drop base air cleaner. I think it cost $28. Call them and mention it. Believe it or not they were actually pretty quick about the whole thing. I took delivery of it in less than a week.
