Cable Throttle Question

When I completed my rebuild last year I fabricated the linkage for the new 5200 carb, but it just isn't opening all the way to full throttle. I've read some posts on the cable throttle conversion from Lokar, but not sure if I quite understand the Kickdown cable. Do I need a kickdown cable if I am converting to a cable throttle?

I'm also having some troubles with the transmission downshifting. It downshifts when going up hills, but immediately shifts back. Could it be caused from the throttle not opening up all the way?

Thanks in advance for the help on this one.

If you have the C4 trans then you need the kickdown. It basically downshifts the trans when the throttle is wide open. There is a company that makes a throttle kit with kickdown for the C4. I will try to find the link.

Burgstang,

I went with the Lokar throttle and trans kick-down cable setup on my car. It's really easy. Send me your email address and I will send you the parts numbers and pictures.

I received your email. I do appreciate it. Looks like several of us were looking for that info
Anyone know of a more stock looking gas pedal that we can use. like maybe from a later mustang, Granada, etc. ??

I found a junk yard that had a gas pedal out of a late 80s Fairmont that would work.

There is a search engine called Junk yard dog. All you do is enter the parts you are looking for and they give you a list of junk yards that have those parts.
it may be worth looking into.
