I am having the "bubbling, overflowing" gas problem. My mechanic suggested I install a phenolic spacer kit, which I just did today. I started my inline 6 200 (65 Mustang Coupe). It took awhile to get it started and it ran really rough and would not idle. It ran about 5 minutes with me revving it to keep it going. I shut it off and was looking over the carb with the air cleaner off. After about 15 seconds I heard bubbling and then gas started seeping out of the carb and onto the intake manifold. Here's the thing, the engine was wasn't even warmed up and it was a cool evening. The bubbling (boiling?) went on for a good 5-8 minutes. I'm really concerned about driving the car if gas is going to bubble out onto a hot manifold. Apparently the phenolic spacer was not the answer to this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
