Carb Q

i've got a Holley 1940 on my 200. The only difference I can think of is the spark control valve issue or jet sizes. Some 1940s came with SCVs, some did not.

I think they were available in 1-7/16" and 1-11/16" throttle bore. I don't know if the bases are different sizes or not.

Mike & Kevin, thanks for your replies. I probably should have been a bit more specific in my question/post. I previously had a Holley 1940 carb on my 66' - 200ci engine (currently I have an Autolite 1100), but I am not sure whether there are two different 1940 carbs, one for the 240ci engine and another for the 200ci engine, or are they the same?? You mention that you think there are two different throat diameters; could one of them be for a 240ci and one for the 200ci??? Thanks, Jim

Jim,
The larger one was intended for the 240 I believe. I have 2 of the smaller 1-7/16 but I don't have one of the larger ones to compare. If the bolt spacing on the base matches your head it should bolt on, but you might have to do some grinding to enlarge the hole in the head for throttle blade clearance. I would think that the larger one would flow more cfm.
