i have a holley 1946 single bbl carb and it sounds like hell...at idle and up to 25 mph you dont seem to notice it but at higher speeds and rpm's the carb sound like a banshee  ...it actually howls like its savanging for air...im not to experianced in these aeas because i am only 19...not like you older experianced chaps who know all about it but would like to know what the problem might be...i just want this carb to be able to last until i upgrade to a holley 350 or 500 cfm 2 bbl...thanks
gary

also if i get the holley 350 or 500 will it be fairly easy to install on either a us 200 head or aussie 2v head...still thinking on going for a aussie 2v or not...thanks

Is this with the air cleaner on or off? I could really hear my Holly with the aircleaner off, I would not say it screamed, but it did sound like a shop vac. Sorry I cannot be of more assistance, but if need be, I could always sell you my holly real cheap to help you get by until you do the upgrade. It ran fine on my 66 before I pulled it in favor of the Offy set up.\

what type of holley is it? 2bbl by chance? Me and my buddy (SEth) still have to finish his 2v upgrade before he moves to Washington and I move to Fargo.

[edit:] well look at who cant tell the difference between post and PM  [/edit]

the air cleaner is on...it sounds like it relly gasping for air...i wish i had a sound file that can show you guys how it sounds...but yeah it does sound kind a like a shop-vac at higher speeds...is it normal...are there was to reduce this sound without going to the 2bbl setup

No its a single barrel 1946 model I think, sorry about that....

66, mine made that noise. is it even more apparent with the air cleaner off. Make sure the air cleaner is on tight, as there may be a littel gap somewhere that is causing the air to whistle maybe???
