i have a 66 200ci mustang with a holley 1940 carb. the spacer plate that the car has on it has a tab that sticks out and a tab on the throttle linkage actually hits the spacer plate tab. To get to WOT you have to push the linkage up and over the tab, after which it does not come back down. so it will stick at WOT. is this spacer plate for another carb? should i just cut the tab off? just wanted to know if anyone had any idea why the spacer plate tab is there to begin with.

the tab ison both sides of the spacer plate so it's not that i have the spacer plate on wrong.

thanks.

Evren,
I have the same Holley on my 66. the engine however is from a 68. I don't see the tabs on my carb or spacer. E-mail me and I can send you some pics if you are intrested. sgozzo1_remove@yahoo.com. To e-mail me take out the word remove and predceding dash...stops spammers.

Ive got the 1940 too and I dont have any carb plates except the original ford adapter thing.

By the way, any of you guys ever rebuilt one of these 1940's? Easy, hard, not worth it?

my engine is a 66 too, the block anyways, not sure about the head.

i can't take a pic until next week but i'll try.

i rebuitl my carb. it was not hard. i got the book from Haynes (maybe from the other company that is popular for auto repair books can't remember). but it covers a large assortment of holley crabs from 4 to 1 bbl. It helps a lot. it was my first carb rebuild so i really needed the extra advice that the rebuild kit manual does not always cover.

thanks, i'll be emailing you about the pictures soon.
