Carb spacer

Hi, I put a '79 200 into my '63 Comet and everything was great untill it came time to hook my carb up. I want to use the old linkage and carb. Does anyone know where I can get a spacer that will adapt old carb and linkage to a newer head? I know Sacremento Mustang used to sell them but they no longer have them.

Not much help I know but you can't get the cable from the '79? the cable linkage is better anyway.........

I've got the opposite issue! I've got a c9 head on a c8 200 block. I don't know if the head is from a 200 or 250, but it has the bigger 1.75 carb opening. The studs on the head are the larger spacing, but there is a factory adaptor plate (not a heater plate but similar in design to it) to mount the small 1.5 in bore carb with the smaller stud spacing. Make's me think ford used the same head on differant cars, and then used the smaller carb to "detune" the engine.

I'll eventually have to find a spacer to run the proper sized carb for this head to get better breathing the head was intended to have. Too bad we can't trade as I'd like to get a bigger carb on here, but can't have the car down for several days while we ship parts If I were you, I'd use the late model brackets and cable linkage and a hanging granada pedal. I'd do anything to get rid of the cheap plastic gas pedal attatched to the floor- you can't use regular floormats, and it's a perfect place for water to run down off your shoe into the floorboard and cause rust.

I have had the exact same issue. I posted an ad in the "wanted" section but didn't get any replies. My problem was that I had bought a 62 Comet with a 68 200 block and 69 head, and whoever had installed it had mutilated the carb spacers to fit the original carb on. The bottom spacer had the large bolt pattern, but the top one had the small. They had drilled out the top spacer so it would fit on the bottoms spacers large bolt pattern, so they could then, in turn, mount a small carb venturi carb with the small bolt spacing. Am I making sense? It was a mess and they ruined both spacers. Anyway, I'm in the process of fabricating a spacer out of aluminum.

I think I may have to go with the cable thing, but it seems like a big pain in the ass. Also the cable is just not as cool looking as the linkage. The carb I want to use will work on both big and small intakes. Thanks for your input.

P.S. if I get a run of the adapter plates made, how many people would want one?

If you get a plate made I would like to trade notes with you. I've got the aluminum plate but haven't begun to drill it yet.
