Have you checked out mustang geezers website. he made an adapter to mount a holley 500 cfm carb to his log head. you should checkit out he has some good pics of it.
I've got a couple questions about the two carb adapters. I know the Clifford puts the carb barrels in line with the rest of the engine and the Stovebolt (using the stock carb adapter) puts the barrels transverse facing toward the fenders.
Now for my questions; Which way of positioning the carb is better? Has anyone tried both orientations and noticed a difference between the two?
I am installing the 5200 on the new engine...
I was wondering why the dual advance for the 5200?
Can't I run electronic DSII with single vacume advance? Is the dual advance dizzy needed for the stock-like setup only?
I am getting woried that the 5200 might not be the right choice for me...
not because of the above questions... but because of it's CFM.
since I am running the 2v with effectively a mid 260's cam... I am wondering if I should be at 350... maybe a 2300 or a weber 32/36 is the better choice...
And lastly...
no matter what carb I choose... plan on the 5200 to at least break in the engine...
so here is the thing... when I first fire this up it needs to run at 2000 for 20 minutes... what about the carb? Seems like I am not going to get to even make a simple adjustment.... can I trust the thing to run through that period? I plan to set the mixture before.. and check throttle operation... but the carb itself I can only fire up... and lock at 2000. and make some minor adjsutments in high throttle.
and lastly... you guys running the 5200 on the stock pump are you using pressure regulators? I heard a while back the 5200 and 2300 carbs like no more than 3-4psi?
Oh yeah one more...
simple... since I am running a brand new engine. Choke on or off for the first startup. I would assume on but it never hurts to ask... I am running a manual choke on the stang now. I rarely need it anyway...
I think you guys keep mixing terminology when talking about distributors.
The early pre-68 distributor is VACUUM ADVANCE ONLY.
The later 68-73 distributor has both VACUUM AND CENTRIFUGAL advance.
The Durasparks also have both VACUUM AND CENTRIFUGAL advance.
The vacuum advance canisters in the 68-up distributor came in a SINGLE VACUUM or a DUAL VACUUM.
Calling these later distributors "dual advance" confuses people who are looking at single or dual vacuum canisters. They should simply be referred to as the 68 up distributor with either a single or dual vacuum, not "dual advance".
