carter cfm

Im gonna keep the RBS on my car due to tha crazy econmy. yesterday I installed tha chrome air cleaner i got for christmas. would the open element make a difference in performance on a 215cfm carb. i may get a K&N filter for it. tha one that came with it is a stock filter element.

I'm fairly certain that the YF is less cfm's than the RBS, but I'm not sure exactly how much. The air cleaner that currently fits the RBS may not fit the YF.

K&N is basically a "bragging rights" item. They flow a little more and filter a little less than a stock filter. Years ago when Vizard tested flow the Motorcraft OEM flowed only a little less than the K@N. Air filter tests can be found at bobistheoilguy.com.
 
Howdy again,

The YF was "the" carb from 1970 to 1979.

It is 150 cfm on the 170

It is 187 cfm on the 200

It is 195 cfm on the 250

More is better in CFMs. Until you are overcarbed. That won't hit until the high 300s.
