Casting Lines

I have a question for you guys.

When re-building, is it worth the time to polish and remove the casting lines from the Block? I was looking at the casting lines by the cylinder walls and past the main bearings especialy.

Thanks

Not unless you plan to make something in excess of 2 horsepower per cubic inch. Those casting lines "may" cause stress risers under heavy load but you will never notice any improvement on a street driven vehicle and probably not on a race-only engine either.

That said, it sure doesn't hurt to grind them smooth. I never have been that bored though.

8) joe is right, it wont hurt anything to take the time to smooth them down, but unless you are going racing, you dont need to take the time either.
