I just use a 5/16 socket nut driver and a long extension chucked in the drill

They are Tubing threads and yes you are correct it's a compression fitting and Ferrell. Good luck

I use the "screw bit type" nut driver, with the hex drive, and a "screw gun" hex extension. they click together solid, and it says together fine (never made it work with a normal socket, they were all to big OD)

I'm using the shaft out of my old distributor. I have to admit it took a couple beers to get everything disassembled and pressed off the shaft!

Be careful with this type of method ,you can gouge up the distributor bearing surface in the block ! Ask me how I know.

I'll soon B upon this stage of the ssembly process. Got nother suggestion?

I'm gunna pack in a lill assembly grease, then wanna spin the pump to draw in/distrubute the special crancase break-in oil, & run it 20 min @ 2,ooo rpm.

Well if you want to be really safe, there are the air tank pre-oilers that are fairly cheap. On Air-cooled VWs, I use a small gear pump plumbed into the oil pressure port and run it with a drill, and pump until the sump is full.
