cleaning out a nut under the car??

HI
Using the different tranny I need to use the back set of nuts for the tanny cross member. How do you clean out the threads so the new bolts go in after years of none use?? OH they are attached to the under side of the fram and with NO axcess holes to them.

Tim, I would first spray them well with WD-40 etc using the tube extension on the nozzle.

Then coat a tap with bearing grease or similar, and thread it in carefully. If the tap starts to fully clog up, back it out, wipe clean, regrease and continue. 3/8" UNC?

Otherwise, wind it through, then back out. Chase with a twist of kitchen paper sprayed with WD-40. Was the tap in your parts washer and all is good.
