I'm not exactly sure how high you plan on reving this engine but I get the feeling you just want to have fun and not rebuild it frequently.

I think you will find that any mods you do along these lines such as lightening, windage trays or crank scrapers will be very beneficial for even moderate or mild performance usage, and should be done. Engines such as these that are relatively limited in terms of using traditional methods to get big HP gains, short of nitrous or turbos, tend to make engine builders look outside the box for extracting extra power from them in ways you wouldn't normally do if you had a V8. Every little bit you gain is more than if didn't do it....
