Just a thought but what if you took a mid to late 80's ford escort 2 door and gutted the hell out of it. Then put a shortened 9" rear in it, roll cage all the legal strip stuff. Put a Turbo I-6 in it and go on Pinks...maby pinks........

Would you be better off with a turbo 4 cyl or would the I-6 be a good idea?

I know I seen a dodge omni, like the escort, with a built up turbo 4 in it and the guy ran high 8's with it.

Just a thought while I am bored. I am not talking a street car here, track only.

well there is a man named john hubber whos has a fox boy stang 2.3 turbo still street legal and runs mid to high 8's.

now witch l6 would you use?
what else would you being doing to the motor.

I would do it as a budget project. Junkyard escort, 250 engine, rebuilt transmission, cheap turbo. Open up the motor and check for visible defects and repair as cheap as you can. Catch my drift?

If you know people you can probably get almost all of it for free or next to nothing. Get a few sponsors involved for the fuel pump, regulator, fuel cell, lines.

Or you could go the other road, Aluminum head, dished pistons the whole 9 yards Bullet proof transmission, rear end. Just like does10 has in his car.

Figure the times he runs compared to the weight of a escort, pretty quick.

that would be a nice project. you could try just hopping up the escorts stock 1.8 (if its a gt) and slap a turbo on it. my buddy had a 93 or so escort gt with a 1.8 5speed got it for free with no revers. but it was a fun car to drive around. get the stock car gut it and force induct it
