I briefly toyed with the idea of placing the injectors on the outside of the bend on a 300-6EFI lower intake, but heat concerns prevented me from doing that. I figure, if they are placed back there, then there will be more time for the air and fuel to mix. If I go as far as to make a custom lower, I may do that, but with a heat deflector under the injectors. Oh yeah, aluminum isn't fun to work with. I can reliably TIG weld stainless, and know that it will hold up to rapid swings between pressure and vacuum, but I really question aluminum's ability for the same. I am sure that cast aluminum is more than up to the job, but when you weld it, you severely weaken it, and aluminum welds typically retain 60-80% of the strenght of the base metal. Not to mention that the aluminum pieces I would need are more expensive than stainless, as aluminum has to be extruded to make tubing.
