Hi all, can anyone help me with decoding some numbers please? The block has 14, C8DE, 6015-A. The intake has C3DE (& a #s that looks like 94). The air intake has C6DE-6090-B. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know C8 would be a 1968 design part, C3 1963 and C6 1966. You might benefit from getting a copy of the Falcon Performance Handbook.

The Short Block Design Number C8DE-6015-A, Decodes as fallows:
C is the Decade of 1960
8 is the year added to the above gives you a First year Part Design of 1968
D is for Car Model Line that first requested the part to be made in this case a Falcon. However many other Car Models also used these same parts.
E is for the Ford Department responsible for making the part in this case the Engine Foundry
6015 is Ford Generic Number for a Cylinder Block
A would tell you if the part had been improved, A is for first design of the Part
so short block is at least a 1968 to know the true year of the engine you would need to find the Casting Date Code which looks like a small metal plate in the casting (see some example picture's below) it has a Straight Blade Screw Head at each end it will 2 or 3 numbers and a Letter on it.

The Log Head Design Number C6DE-6090-B decodes as fallows:
C is the Decade of 1960
6 is the year added to the above gives you a First year Design as 1966
D is for Car Model Line that first requested the part to be made in this case a Falcon. However many other Car Models also used these same parts.
E is for the Ford Department responsible for making the part in this case also the Engine Foundry
6090 is Ford Generic Number for a Cylinder Head
B would tell you that this part had been improved, B is for a second design of the Part
so Log Head is at least a 1967 or 1968 and is a Small Log Type, to know the true year of the Head you would also need to find the Casting Date Code. Good Luck

Hi all, just thought of another question. I have been reading tons of posts but now I’m a little more confused. If I have a carb (1bbl) with a spark control valve, what type of distributor would I need? I’m trying to figure out how I can upload pics to show. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as always. Thanks

Just saw that my distributor has this number: ARB E.O. D-57-22. As per some research, this executive order came from California, concerning emissions. So now….I’m really confused. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Pictures really help, there is a little info on posting pictures here at this link. https://fordsix.com/threads/topic-images-signatures-and-avatars.48863/
However you can now post your pictures direct from your own Computer or also from your Smart type Phone no need to have a Picture Hosting Service anymore. So from your Computer's Pictures Files it's really easy to do, use the bottom left Tab on your post to "Attach Files".

"...what type of distributor would I need?..."
see above, last tabs top of page, Tech Archive:
read, ck in w/us 4 Qs. B4 all that tho (do it while waiting for delivery of, order) the Handbook mentioned above.
Those 2 resources might B enuff U dont need us !

A 68+ 200 point distributor will work.
A China 200 HEI will work.
A DUI Duraspark distributor with a full length bushing will work.
Stick a small wire in the Autolite 1100 vacuum advance port.
Plug the venturi hole inside the carb. that wire sticks out of with JB Weld.
The spark valve will still provide throttle bore vacuum to the vacuum advance.
To find out if you have a LOM distributor remove the cap.
If you see 2 vacuum advance springs it is an LOM.
With an early auto trans. LOM distributor you will only see one spring.
