After two days of working nonstop at two concerts, I decided today that I would settle down and do an overall test fit of my new carb setup. I purchased a Stovebolt Holley 2brl and the Clifford Holley adapter. Things didn't go as planned:

Okay so obviously this adapter will not work. I'm alittle ticked off with Clifford for sending the wrong adapter. I know of their reputation and this isn't making me happy. When I ordered the adapter, I gave the guy the measurements between the two studs of the intake where the spacer goes. Somehow I guess something went wrong. What adapter is this for then? It certainly isn't for a two barrell. Somehow I think they machined the part wrong. Even modifying this adapter to work looks ugly. Should I modify the adatper or give Clifford a nice wake up call Monday?

As for the carb, I have some questions. I am assuming this is a water -cooled choke with electronic aided choke. there is one brown and one black wire coming from the carb. Where do I wire those or those even necessary at all? I plan to switching the choke to a manual. What a way to start my sunday.

That looks like the adaptor for the Holley 2300 carburetor (and Autolite 2100), which had a larger base than the 5200.

Personally, I would send it back.

Unfortunately, you'll probably have better luck either buying an Autolite 2100 or Holley 2300 and selling your 5200 then getting a response from Clifford. More then likely they will just blame you...make you pay for return shipping and shipping of the new part.

I'd just give up on them...but that's just me.

Thats the first thought I had, looks like a 2300 to 1bbl adapter.

As mentioned you might be able to sell a good 5200 for more than it wil cost for a good used 2300 series or Motorcraft 2bbl.

I got the wrong part also. I called them the next day, had them bill me for a new one and ship it out. Then when they recieved the adaptor I sent back they would credit my account. I got the right adaptor in 3 days but ending up spending over 10 bucks in shipping .

Maybe it would just be easier to get the adapter from Stovebolt and charge back your CC from Clifford

That is the same water choke that was on mine... which I did not like the looks of.
I bought a manual choke kit at NAPA and put that on in about ten minutes.... was under 20.00....

I am not sure what the wiring is for mine did not have that... it looks to be seperate from the choke? I have no idea? Sorry!

That particular carb has both a water heated and electric choke. You asked for the wrong adapter. You need the Weber 2Bbl adapter. Remember, its a Weber carb built by Holley.

Just got off the phone with Clifford and after arguing with them they finally pulled their copy of the invoice and noticed that they did send the wrong adapter. They sent me the wrong adapter and the part number on the adapter and on the invoice are totally wrong on my end. Gotta love it. Just as I take a step forward I gotta go back ten steps.

They admit they sent you the wrong adapter, but do you think they will send you the correct one at no cost? Nope, you're going to eat shipping, just wait.

There are some companies that are class acts, though. One of them is Finish Line. You can find them at www.cobraaccessories.com.

Last week I ordered two 3-position switches for the Locost. They sent me instead three 2 position switches. I called, they were very apologetic, asked me to send them back. The switches I wanted cost $15 more than the ones I got. They overnighted them to me at no cost, didn't charge me the difference, and didn't need to wait to get the wrong switches back first. I got the ones I needed the next day.

I highly recommend them if you need any of the things they sell.

Another such company is Simple Digital Systems at www.sdsefi.com. They bend over backwards to make sure your EFI system is working, often sending replacements without waitng to get the broken/inop piece first.

Great company.
