DGES Jetting, <65s?

Anyone using smaller than 65s with good results? When I drop to 60s I get a hesitation everytime I hit the throttle. See the carb gasket question also. It may be due to a vacuum leak I don't know.

Ron,

I get home from work next week. I need to pull my carb apart, clean it and tune it. I'll make sure to have a look at the jets and get back to you. I am very interested in the jetting of this thing. I seem to be running the largest jets I can get, but the power seems to be the same as the small guys.

I'll be in touch!

Roger that, Falcon Fanatic is running 45s and there is NO way I can go that low. When I dropped the size it seemed to respond better and felt quicker but the inherent bog and surging came with it. Timing as well as fuel pressure are issues when using these carbs I guess? Maybe the sudden draw on vacuum (because the carb is so big) causes the advance to drop suddenly giving the bog? A delay valve may be in order. Now if I can just remember what color does what.... :?

Do you have an o2 sensor? While a nice wideband kit can cost from $225 and up, it really simplifies this jetting process. I'm finding that my engine prefers a bit rich to a bit lean.

Mine too. I went to 70s and it ran fine, no bogs, even around right hand corners. But the mo-fo was sluggish as all get out! 65s seem to be the ticket. I dont want to spend the money on a A/F meter, cheapskate I guess :) Did you get the info on the emulsion tubes?

no info yet. I was wondering what size pump jet you have. might this be a factor on your off the line stumble? i went from a 70 to a 60 with no problem, but maybe you need a bigger one.

My whole goal is to improve my mileage, hence my use of ever smaller jets.

Shoot! I sent that via private message, or so I thought. Let me see if I can find that info again.
