Distributor 180 out

Hello All, Just curious, has anyone here run a Ford Six with the distributor 180 degrees out? Just wondering if it would run at all...some internet posts say no way, while others describe very rough running and no power, plus overheating, but it did run.

When I first stabbed mine in it was 180* off. It didn't run. It backfired out the top of the carb and was a big ole hot mess. I pulled it out, dropped it back in, she fired up immediately and ran like a champ.

anyone who suggests that an engine. any engine, will run at all with the distributor 180 out has no clue about which they speak. at 180 out you are trying to fire a cylinder on the exhaust stroke, often times with both valves open which is why you get backfiring through the carb.
