my engine has not been up to par the last couple years ,finaly have made time this year for testing and tuning,it has a bad missfire at 5000rpms,took the carb apart the other day went through the jetting and float levels.next went to check the advance curve, adjusted that to were i want it to be,i put it dissy back together and i can move the rotor 1/8inch ,i pull the dissy out and i can shave with the gear teeth.
I dont have a steel cam,it a flat tappet cam.I looked on the cran web sight and they say that excessive oil pressure and high volume oil pumps can cause distrubitor gear wear, also excessive low rpm running can cause this too.I realy didnt drive my car much to cause this much wear so i dont know if i should get the same gear or get a steel or bronze gear,or maybe its not getting lubed well.

make sure the bolt that holds the cam in place is tight cause i was having similar problems with my 200 cause it was loose except it would shave the gears and then break the teeth

thank ,I have heard of that happening ,I jamed a screwdriver in there to see how much cam play I had ,I think I lock tited the cam plate bolts ,Hard to remember ,its been a while

this is a common problem in aus in xflow blocks due to a slight change in the dizzy tunnel.
anyways we can get a hardend steel dizzy gear out here that dont wear.
but also everything wears how long since you last changed it? or rebuilt the engine
