I was looking at some used engines on Kijiji and a fellow says that he has a 262 out of a mustang. Is there such and engine or was this bored out to that size? Also looking at a 300 out of a 95 f150 would there be much work in putting it in my 65 comet that has a 200 six in it at present.

Forget the 300 or 240 as they will not fit.

The 262 is either a typo or he meant 260. Make sure it has not been bored out already or it is not worth buying. There are two many 289, 302, 5.0 engines out there that are standard bore.

Kukm66, Sixgun has a destroked 300 in his check the racing pic archive in the 1320 section for pics. The 262 was a late 50-early 60's inline six the smaller 223 was in cars while the 262 was in trucks etc.

I did some research and as it turns out there is a 262. It was built for trucks and for industrial use and discontinued in 1964. Unfortunately for the guy selling it because he doesn't have a 262. According to my research the carb and exhaust are on the opposite side so from his picture I think he has a 200.
So a 300 won't fit into my comet well I guess I will go ahead next year and just rebuild the 200.

Is the engine bay of a '65 Comet different from a '65 Falcon? I don't think so.
There are several '65 Falcons here with the 300.
Rad is moved in front of support w/ electric fan in front of rad. Serpentine accessorries set-up uses shorter water pump for an additional 1.5" clearance.
