The faq in the tech section says that the white wire from the ford module when engaged will retard advance a couple degress. My interest, and I'm proby way off base, is if I could somehow use this with my A/C. That the white wire would be engaged except when the compressor cut's on then the advance would increase the couple degrees and offset the load.

In theory, that sounds like it would work. While it wouldn't completely offset the load, I'm sure it would help. You'd just need to set the "retarded" advance to normal running advance.

You'd run the white wire from a switched 12V source (like the ignition to coil wire) and then put a relay between the 12V wire and the module. The relay would need to be one that closes when the AC compressors cycles on. So you'd need another relay on the AC compressor. From there, I can't really help you because I don't know anything about AC since my car has no AC.

Good luck.

But then aren't you just detuning your engine for most of your driving and changing the advance only when the A/C kicks in? Or in other words, in stead of tuning for the most HP your engine can produce, you want to retard it's performance so that it performes like a engine with a Full Time A/C running? I say tune for performance and take the HP hit when the A/C turns on!

you are right. It's just bugged me trying to think of a way to use that function since I read about it. Be great for a turbo. I had a 280ZX Turbo in my wild days. I know it is heresy but it was one sweet six. We put an Electromotive engine management system on it that you program with a laptop...
