What's up everybody? I just found this website (thank god, I couldn't find I6 info anywhere!!!) I have a 67 Mustang 200ci. I'm thinking about putting a dual exhaust on it with some of my summer job money. If any of you guys who have done this could give me an idea on how much it cost you guys that would be great. Also any tips or ideas on what system to get...

I've just fitted pacemaker headers to mine with dual outlets running to a discrete dual system. I did a post about a month ago on Aussie sixes.
Also worth looking at for other comments. Has made a big difference to performanace and sound. I love driving it just to hear the resonance!!

Fantomex26,

You basically have a choice of four brands for a dual out header on a 200. Clifford, Pacemaker (Aussie import), Hooker and FSPP. Mike at FSPP carries the Pacemakers and his own FSPP design. The hookers are good, but they tend to be rather expensive and hang down lower under the car. You may also want to consider the coatings as well. I believe all of the headers are available with ceramic coating. It adds to the price, but looks great and from what people say, it stays looking good for a long while.

Also, if you are going to install a dual out header, you should also install a Clifford port divider in the head. Exhaust ports 3 and 4 on the 200 log head are siamesed, and to get a proper seperation for a dual out should be seperated. It's only like $14.

Here's a picture of a head with the port divider installed. Notice that the large opening in the center has been filled to make ports 3 and 4 both seperate and the same size as the rest of the exhaust ports. This is Mustang_Geezer's head.

Alot of folks here who have installed a dual out exhaust have also installed an H or X pipe as well. It helps to balance the exhaust and many people say it makes it sound better.

Here's an example of an X pipe installation. This is wsa111's (one of the members of this site) system.

Mufflers are another concern. There has been alot of discussion on which are the best mufflers for for the 200, and alot has to do with what kind of sound that you want out of the system. Probably the single most popular muffler is the Flowmaster 40 series, although they do tend to be a bit noticable in the car when you drive.

I installed a port divider and a FSPP Pacemaker header with ceramic coating. The coating on my header failed and it is starting to rust in places. I will be sending it back to get re-coated this winter. I ran straight dual exhaust using Borla ProXS mufflers. It does not try to imitate a V8, it has its own unique sound. Click on my sig pic for pictures of my dual exhaust setup.

Just stopped by the muffler shop myself, and was quoted $400 for kink bends and $700 for mandrel.

That includes magnaflow mufflers, and having a 3 bolt flange up front so I can add a custom downpipe when i go turbo and not have to cut and weld later.

Alright, cool. Thanks for all the replies. I'm no mechanic (I'm slowly but surely learning these last 3 months since I bought the car) so I'll be taking the car to an exhaust shop. I'm guessing it's much cheaper to buy my own parts and have it done. Right now I'm lookin at Pacemaker headers with an X-pipe and Flowmaster 40's to finish it off. I'm not too worried about the noise inside my car.
If everything works out I should end up with around 2500 bucks to play with this summer, but I also want to get mag wheels and new tires with that money too...hopefully I can afford it all.
