Hi Guys

Ford 250 , non cross flow. Bog standard in a jet boat. Don't seem to have any grunt at higher revs (thats about 3000 -3500 in my boat). I've been mucking around with the timing and the vacuum advance. Prob is I don't have a manual.

Can anyone tell me what the factory setting is for the timing at idle. At least that will get me started at the right point!

Cheers

Rob

I'm guessing 6 degrees. But that'd be with vacuum to dizzy disconnected and blocked, and possibly with the car in gear (auto) and some such.

Does it have a standard looking dizzy? Ie. vacuum advance.
It may be modified which could affect the timing at idle.

Thanks, I'll start with 6 and see how that goes :o)

so I should set the timing at idle, with the vacuum disconnected and blocked (both ways?) and with the engine under some load? (I'll start her in the water on the trailer  )

I guess the engine should be at running temp etc?

The dizzy looks bog standard and so is the carb. I rekitted the carb last season so hopefully I didn't F something up!

Thanks

Rob
