Electrick Super Charger

i saw one online for 99.95+S&H maybe i'll get it. i'll have to look the company up on the better business beuro site to make sure there a legit company. :?

Use your charge card and dispute the payment if you get rooked. Then the card company helps go to bat for you. I am curious how just 2.2 amps of drain give 25 lbs of boost. In physics, you get out proportional to what you get in. Maybe its really for a 20 cid not a 200 cid.

ive changed my mind, from what ive read so far the per formance is minimal. a guy biult a homemade one and ended up destroying it becaues it was crap

if its too good to be true then it realy is, if i realy do get one i'll let yall know

i dont have a charge card, i doudt i'll get it anyway, just read som more stuff about it and its not good. a guy put an e-ram on his stock car and only gained 5hp and a blown fuse. if i find the article agian i'll post it

the first link is a marine blower, used for getting gas fumes out of boat hulls.. they stuck the fancy filter on it.. those things are a big time rip off.. even if they worked, you can get them for about $40 from a place like West Marine

Texas A&M engrng dept designed and built an electric blower big enough to operate a 350 ci engine 475hp @ 12 psi.
Design included an 18 wheeler to carry the generator.

This is the same group that designed an electric car, to simplify, using same voltage as a house.
Test run east to west across Texas, almost 900 miles on $3.16 of
electricity.

Only one problem, extension cord cost $3.2 million.

God, these things keep popping up like a bad case of herpes. You cant get rid of them.

Please forgive me as I wasn't the greatest at math and science in High school

If a Audi 1.8L turbo is pushing in 450cfm how is a device that is pushing 250cfm going to help?

Seems like the device would restrict airflow to the turbo?

And if they really work won't the factory have started install. seriously, there is a lot in a car that was copied from hotrodders and racers. eg: rear view mirror, high compresion engines, disc brakes, etc-----

But then again I may have missed something, maybe it a combination of pieces that works. Let's see? bilge fan for supercharger sound, fart can for big engine sound, a wing to make it look like it a fast race car. Then the kangii decals so the car will think it been bless by some Japanese super tuner.

One of these two is claiming up to 800 cfm at about 1 lb of boost. Still, one pound of boost is a hole lot more than any amount of vacuum. They're saying to 6-8% power increase and maybe stretch your powerband a few hundred rpm depending on the engine. I think that's probably realistic if the thing actually works. Costs about the same as a cam with lifters or the brains of a megasquirt, so it depends where you want to spend your money.

HELLO 250 COUPE

.....ONE THING ABOUT BEING OLD IS YOU SEEN ALOT OF THINGS. WELL I'VE SEEN THIS DONE BRFORE AND WAS APART OF SOME GUYS WHO MADE ONE THAT WORKED.

.....1956 OR SO....A FRIEND HAD A 1953 FORD. HE WANTED TO TRY AND GET MORE POWER FROM HIS CAR. HE TOOK A KIRBY VACUUN CLEANER AND USED THE IMPELLER AND CASE WITH A STARTER MOTOR
AND PUT ON HIS '53. WE WORKED ON IT FOR OVER TWO WEEK BEFORE WE TRIED IT. DIDN'T SEE MUCH. TOOK IT OFF AND REWORKED IT... 4 TIMES.

.....WHEN IT WORKED YOU COULD TELL THERE WAS SOMETHING HAPPENNING. WE TESTED IT THE WAY EVERYONE DID BACK THEN....WE TOOK IT TO THE ROAD AGAINST OUR OTHER CARS. WE FOUND HIS CAR WAS FASTER THAN OURS. THAT WAS A CHANGE. WE ALL HAD CARS THAT WERE ABOUT THE SAME IN DRAGGING. THE FASTEST WAS A 1952 CHEV. 6 THAT HAD A MILLED HEAD AND BIGGER CARB. AND HOT COIL. THE CHEV WOULD PULL AWAYFROM EVERYONE BY A FULL CAR/LENGTH. THE CHANGE WAS THE 1953 FORD OUT PULLED THE CHEV THE FIRST 60 FT. AND HELD IT.

.....WE ALL FELT IT WAS ONLY GOOD FOR THE FIRST BLOCK OR SO. THE TOP SPEED WAS NOT AS FAST.

..... THE UNIT HAD A HOSE BUILT TO GO TO THE TOP OF THE CARB. THE UNIT SAT ON THE PASS/SIDE. THE CARB SIZE WAS LARGER THAN THE CASE SIZE SO IT WAS NOT A GOOD SETUP. WE ALL THOUGHT IT HELPED AT LOWER RPM'S AND NOT A HELP AT UPPER RPM'S. ALSO WE ONLY RAN IT FOR 12 SECONDS. IT GOT VERY HOT AFTER TWO RUNS. THE LONGEST IT WAS RUN WAS TO 20 SECONDS. THEIR WAS NO HELP AFTER ABOUT 10SECONDS.

.....I RODE IN IT ONCE AND TURNED ON THE SWITCH AFTER IT WAS GOING IN SECOND GEAR AT 15 MPH AND THEIR WAS A CHANGE.

.....I WOULD GUESS IT HAD 8-10 MORE HP. THATS ABOUT 6%. NOT MUCH FOR ALL THE WORK. BUT IT WAS FUN TO TRY SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

.....MY BLAST FROM THE PASSSSSST. :D

So he took a centrifugal impellor from a 108 cfm @ say 20" hg vacuum cleaner that nominally spins at between 10k-20krpm and whacked it on a starter motor that turns at a couple of thousand rpm with some load?

That's the way I understand it. He did mention it was only helpful at low rpm and for about ten seconds max and the thing got very hot. I find that quite believable.

HELLO

.....I READ XPC66' RESPONCE TO WHAT I WROTE. JUST A QUICK UPDATE OF FACTS.

.....THE MOTOR ON THE KIRBY WAS AC AND WAS RUNNING AT ABOUT 3500 RPM. THE FIRST STARTER MOTOR WAS 6 VOLTS DC AND RAN AT ABOUT 3000 RPM. THAT WAS GOOD BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

.....WE ENDED UP WITH A HD OLDS 6 VOLT STARTER. WE HAD AN EIGHT VOLT BATTERY. WE HAD TO BUILD A STRONGER MOUNT TO THE STARTER MOTOR, FOR A TORQUE PROBLEM. WITH ALL THIS WE WERE ABLE TO GET OVER 5000 RPMS.

.....IF YOU WERE THERE YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN SPARKS FLYING OFF THE BRUSHES AS BRITE AS FLASH BULBS. THE ONLY THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT IT WAS ONLY A HALF SECOND AND YOU HAD FULL PRESSURE TO THE CARB.

.....WE GOT THE IDEA FROM HOT ROD MAG. THEIR WERE ELEC. SUPERCHARGER FORSALE IN ARTICLES YOU COULD BUY.

.....END OF STORY THE FORD GOT A 1955 CHEV. V8 THAT SUMMER. IT BROKE MORE TRANNIES THAN HE WANTED. I HELPED WITH THE FIRST TWO. I THEN LEFT FOR COLLEGE.

.....I DON'T KNOW OR REMEMBER MUCH MORE. I DID SEE THIS GUY (JERRY DAY) AT MY 35 th. HIGH SCHOOL REUNION.

The Kirby "blower' is a totally different design than the bilge exhaust fans on ebay.
The vacuum cleaner was a centrifuge type which will make pressue and the bilge fan a squirrel cage type which can't make much.

I guessing, but I'll bet the Kirby blower/ starter motor was belt drive rather than direct drive as the bilge fan are. And a starter motor would be able to handle considerable over drive, as today aftermarket centrif blowers are. Interesting.
