engine swap

So I'm gonna be rebuilding my inline six this spring. Since my mustang is my daily driver I don't want to remove the engine because that's more downtime. I ran across a 1966 200 ci engine for only $150. I'm planning to buy this engine and have alll the machine work done to it, install aluminum head, headers, DSII etc. All that good stuff. I just don't know if this engine is a direct bolt on to my c4. Or are there any modifications that need to be made?

I would check the casting number to make sure it is in fact a '66. If it is I believe there may be issues with the bellhousing bolt pattern.

If it is a 66 engine you should be fine. The 66 engine has the dual pattern block that allows you to use an early 2.77 bellhousing, or the later 3.03 bellhousing. The block should have a casting number beginning with C6...

I think it was the blocks from a year or two before '66 that had holes for the distributors that were smaller than the later model ones. '64 and before? But I would doublecheck that as well.
Also, did the '66 blocks have 4-mains, or 7?

I know that from about 65 and up all the 200 engines were made 7 main.

I just got the casting number and it is C6DE 6015-B
So that means it is indeed a 66 engine.

Actually it means its at least as new as 66 , the casting may be newer , but its based on the 66 design

I just bought the engine today. I will take it to the machine shop tomorrow for disassembly.
