Engine year & type?

The number on my 170ci I6 block is C3DE-6015-E. An "11" is embossed on the other side.
The numbers on my intake & exhaust start out C3DE also.

Does anyone know where I can take these numbers and find out what year my engine is? Do I have hydraulic valve lifters? ETC? If I have a 1963 engine, how come I don't have a PVC valve and hose connection to the valve cover and air cleaner? I have a vent tube, which was supposed to be done away with in '63.

Is there a web site that has this kind of info? Phil Barber on Classic Inlines did not cover this.

The road draft tube is no guarantee of year. I have one and my engine is a '65.

Probably have mechanical lifters, too.

You have a '63 block. I have the exact same block in my falcon.
I had to replace the oil pump a few years back & can confirm the shaft size, the rocker arms are obvious when you pull off the valve cover (I also had to replace some adjusting screws) & I did a head swap so just for kicks I pulled a lifter to figure out what kind I have.
My block has the 1/4" oil pump shaft, adjustable rocker arms & hydraulic lifters.
The car never had PCV, the adapter on the air filter housing is there, but so is the road draft tube. Reading my shop manual, it appears as though the PCV system was still an option in '63 for most places. I know that the PCV system pre-dates '63 as an option, though the set-up was different. My shop manual shows a picture of the '63 set-up, but I've never actually seen the adapter used in '63. Has anyone? I kinda get the impression that it was a one-year thing, though I don't have a '64 manual to compare. My '65 falcon also had the road draft tube & the PCV valve, though with all of the odd things I've found on that car, who knows what it originally had!
I've got some info & pics of the engine in my car here (link):

Hope this helps.

I knew I could count on you guys. According to this info, my engine is a 1963 Falcon engine (C3DE). It doesn't matter that the engine does not have the PCV valve and hose system as it relates to engine year. The fact that I have a vent tube and an oil breather cap is probably OK. This has been confusing to me because my reprinted manual says that in '63 the vent tube was discarded and the PCV valve and hose system was implemented. It looks like this was not done on every engine. My car was made for the Atlanta district, so this makes sense.
Although it is possible I have solid lifters, it is more likely that I have hydraulic valve lifters which are currently in need of repair, as is the engine itself. I needed this info because I am going to be having the engine and head rebuilt.
Thanks again.

Keep in mind that Ford used up old stock before going to new types. I sold off a road draft tube from a 63 many years ago. Environmentally you should go with the newer style valve cover with PCV. You should look at your carb spacer and see if there is a port for the hose to hook up to. Find a freeze plug and insert it into the operning where the road draft tube attaches. Be careful as it is possible to knock it into the crancase if you go too far.
