exhaust placement question??

O.K. I have a couple questions on exhaust placement I am hoping I can get some input on. First I am adding oz head and using 350cfm holley carb. Adding FSPP header. Going to go w/ single 2" exhaust for now. First question is if 2" single exhaust would be restrictive or if it would be o.k? Second question is I was planning on using a Borla Pro XS muffler, but there is no real space to fit it behind the rear axle. Would it work o.k if I placed the muffler just infront of rear axle and ran rest of tail pipe out from there? I was not sure if this would work. Any suggestions and opinions would be greatly appreciated :D
Thanks, Mark

it ought to work just fine. Check out my website, it shows where my mufflers are, sounds like they are where your describing. I think thats where the v8 cars put their mufflers

Thanks guys. Both placements are exactly where I am talking about. How did you go about hanging/anchoring the muffler at that position? Any problems w/ that placement?
Thanks, Mark

Mark,
I have my muffler hung in that position too. It's the stock location for a V8 muffler, just under the rear seat. A v8 tailpipe and hangers work perfectly.

Any problems using a single 2 inch pipe and muffler w/ a holley 350 carb? Will this be wide enough for proper flow? Thanks again, Mark

the diameter will be fine. Consider 2.25" if you plan to go NOS, forced air, or extreme cam. Otherwise, 2" will be fine.

I have 2" duals. I would have gone 1 7/8ths, but I had a hard time finding mufflers for my application in that size and didn't want to mess adaptors.

Thanks Six. I was planning 2.25 single but my header is 2" and the Y pipe I am using is 2" also so I pretty much had to stay w/ the 2" theme. Thanks again for the info. Mark
