I've been reading up on the whole dual exhaust set up, but was curious about one particular set up. Has anyone tried the single exhaust set up with the muffler (single inlet, dual outlet) behind the rear axel, and dual exhaust tips running around the gas tank along the leaf springs? I've seen one car with this set up and was curious to know how it runs/sounds and all that good stuff. Any info would be great. Thanks

I'll tell u how it sounds when i get the lingle outlet header and all the welds properly sealed

right now i have stock manifold to cat. to dynomax 3" in and 2" out with the drivers pipe between the leaf springs and the gas tank...tight fit but not too bad really. It sounds pretty decent, like it has potential...just the exhaust leaks from using a cr@ppy welder overpower the proper sound....but once the header is on and the leaks are fixe...V8 sound is most definately going to be achived. I also want to have a piece of pipe that is bolt in, so i can replace the cat with straight pipe when i want  ...i have to insure my car in the beggining of may, so i'll have it done by then :D it doesnt really run a whole lot different...but its easier to tune by ear with the exhaust leaks cause i can find the spot when the leaks arent as noticeable at idle, and that seems to be my sweet spot...advanced or retarded from there gives a real nasty leaky sound to the exhaust  and a flowmaster would probably sound sweeter yet.

Arron,
I did the setup you describe in your post with a single in , dual out Dynomax muffler in the stock location with 2" tailpipes out the back. Looks great and the sound is an improvement over stock, but it is not quite the sound I'm looking for. I'm going to go to a header and true duals this summer.

I am running the same setup with flowmaster 50 series and it sounds nice
but still a little loud . I have dual out pacemaker headers, Y piped to a single in/dual out and tailpipes next to the rear springs.

if you send me your e-mail i can send pics and maybe a sound bite but i have never tried it so don't know what it will sound like.

i will try it out tomorrow

John
