exhuast port divider

I took off my head and had it tack-welded in, and then had the header mating surface machined flat.

Epoxy will last about a month and then break. Trust me, I epoxied mine twice. But then again, I was driving the car daily at the time.

It's your call. But factor in things into your decision like the condition of your lifters and pushrods, etc. While the head is off, it's an ideal time to replace those, as well as get the head milled to raise the compression, if you want.

I removed my head. Took it to my weld guy. He preheated the head and tack welded the port divider with minimul clean-up...ZZ

I am trying to buy the epoxy from Cotronics but I am not sure which epoxy to buy. Anyone know a part number?

Has anyone had trouble with their epoxy job? I don't know how to weld but have a friend that can do it for me if i really need to.

I did see the earlier post giving that website, but thanks for reposting it.

The requirements for an epoxy to be useful in this circumstance are not simply that it can handle high temperatures. It is also very desirable that the epoxy would have a thermal expansion coefficient similar to that of the cast iron that it is mating to, otherwise it may cause cracking at some point in the future, and if the epoxy is strong enough it might not be what cracks.

I called Cotronics and they suggested an aluminum compound for which the maximum temperature was 1200° F, which makes me somewhat uneasy. Since plain cast iron and steel change phase at approximately 1364° F and heat treating can be accomplished at 1292° F I think that 1200 is likely to be above the temperatures that the epoxy will see, but I would like some first hand accounts of anyone who has used any of this stuff.

Thanks again for any help yall can give.

I wedged mine to keep it fron moving and drilled a hole on each side
half in the head and half in the divider then tapped it 1/4 20 and installed an allen head set screw bottemed out solid as a rock no rattle it's an option
