My car has the extra bracing that came on the convertibles but I see posts about the export brace and wonder if it would be better then the original cowl braces with convertible braces? Also, are there spot welds on the original cowl braces that have to be removed to get them out of there?
Thanks for any thoughts you have,
Ryan

Check out the current issue of Mustang Monthly.

The "extra" convertible bracing is probably better than nothing, but still worthless.

The main problem is spreading the shock towers. If you follow the article, you should have nlo problems. Make sure you have about a 2' long drift punch or Phillips screw driver.

Personally, I wouldn't remove the extra convertible bracing for the export brace. The convertible bracing while cheap is pretty nice. The only thing I would replace convertible bracing with is something like the TCP set up like this or export brace in conjuction with a monte carlo bar.

The convertibles need more bracing...and I didn't remove mine until I had that. I think people tend to underrate the factory braces. i've heard of many people who when installing a new export brace and monte carlo bar found they lined up perfectly. The leads me to believe there isn't as much sag ans people think.

Thanks for your responses. I think an export brace would be a good addition to my car, and I do like the way the convertible braces look. I painted mine the same color as my block and they look good. I think I will leave them and add the Export Brace. I would like to do the monte carlo bar too.

Thanks again,
Ryan
