Holley 94 is a 2bbl carb that fits 54/55/56 Ford 272/292 Y-block engines and is very similar to the stromberg 97 carbs that went on the flathead V8s. Those will not mount on the stock 223 intake manifold. If one could somehow fit one on there, it is a much taller carb than the holley 1904, so I think it would be very difficult to fit it with an air cleaner.
Your stock 223 carb can be made to work properly if the core is good. Many folks have taken to rebuilding carbs themselves due to the poor workmanship they are getting out of rebuild shops. And they're easy to rebuild.
If your core is bad, the later 1bbl carbs from the later Falcons, Mavericks, Fairmonts and F series trucks might fit, but the carb accellerator linkage might need to be reworked to mate up with it.
How about one off a pre-EFI 300 I-block 6 in a F series truck.
