fairmont wagon

i called a friend today he did a v8 converion ina fairmont wagon a few years back. anyway he has a 7.5 rear with 3.27 trac-loc rear. he said i can have it for 75 bucks. he use to go to a cool u pull it yard about 1 hr away he cut turbos of t birds and sell them and other thing like 8.8 rears. see this is a cool place rears were 40 buck and for 20 more they cut it out for you. same with engines and trans, 100 for a engin and 75 for a trans plus 35 for them to remove it. cant beat that deal.

I doubt that it's a 7.5 ring gear, probably an 8.8.
I have an 8.8 with 3.73 gears, and I just bought a good used set of 3.27 gears, for which I paid $50 for just the gears!

8) if the rear end came from a fairmont, then it can only be a 7.5" rear end as that is all the fairmonts ever got. the 8.8 didnt get into the fox body cars until the mid 80s.

He never said it came from a Fairmont.
And I would bet money that NO Fairmont ever came with a trac-loc and 3.27 gears.

it came out of a ltd2 it a 7.5 and the code 3l27. he picked it up becaue it was a trac lock., the normally only grabed 8.8s aldo i picked up a enegry suspension kit for 50. should work for most of the car

You got yourself a minor treasure. And the code tag to prove it. How does the width compare to your Fairmont rear?

What does the Energy Suspension kit include?

Keep it coming.

Now I wonder what kind of ltd had that rear.
I realize it's a fox-body, maybe it had a 302? Police package?
And I wonder what other vehicles would have had this option?
The 8.8 rear was an option for this vehicle though.
I have also seen an 8.5" ring gear listed?

8) the ltd rear end is a direct swap for the fairmont rear end, in fact they are the same width as they are basically the same car.

the bushing kit is from a 79-86 mustang. the rear is a direct bolt in. the only reason he picked it up because it was a trac-loc.
