Falcon vs Mustang oil pan. 200cid 1966

8) the pans will interchange on the engines with no issues, but one thing to check is tha ton the mustang there is a crossmember that runs under the engine, even with the six, that is not there with the falcon. this crossmember may cause a bit of interference with the pan itself. how much i do not know. if it is just touching the pan with the engine installed, you can add large washers where the crossmember bolts on to lower it away from the pan to gain clearance. otherwise you will need a mustang specific pan.

Thanks. I guess I will need a distance of 10 millimeters to avoid any contact between engine and the crossmember. I came in contact with a man who has a Falcon oil pan in his car. I will ask him how the clearance is.

Greetings:

Are you sure there is a difference in the oil pans between the Falcon and Mustang? I would expect them to be identical. I have a '65 oil pan from a 6 cyl Mustang and it looks just like the one pictured in the web page link. The suspensions are virtually the same since the Mustang was derived off of the Falcon platform. FWIW, my '61 came stock with the crossmember (that fits just behind the sump in the oil pan).
