Fitch Fuel Catalyst Test?

Been going through my old Mustang & Ford Mags and I ran across and article in Mustang & Fords about them doing a test of the fitch fuel catalyst. Surprisingly enough, it was a 67 Mustang Convertible with a 6 cylinder. :D

If it was a V Eight test I wouldnt have posted it or even read about it but since the test is on a 6 cylinder I figured the results would be of interest to us.

It is in the December 2001 issue on page 80 & 81. The name of the article is "Put to the test, fitch fuel catalyst".

It says the results will be printed in a later issue. I've not found the issue yet....

Has anyone out there seen the test results? Curious as to what they found out.

Disclaimer,

All references to snake oil, etc, etc will be automatically deleted/edited by me. I want to know if anyone has any info on the test itself or the product, not heresay or B.S. one way or the other.

Thanks,

Doug

i remember getting that issue when i had a subscription (which i let lapse as they didn't cover enough stuff i wanted to see)
i never did see a follow-up to it, i was interested in it though, but i never found anything additional about it

8) i have not seen that test, but i did watch horsepower tv when they tested the fitch fuel catalyst. they picked up a few horsepower on the dyno, and they reduced fuel consumption as well by about 1 lb/hr. i still have mixed feelings about the unit, but things look promising. trucks(another show on the power block) is doing a long term fuel economy test on a dodge diesel pick up. the baseline mpg is 20.1. again i am waiting to see what the results are.

Hopefully I'll find part 2 of the test so I can post the results.

I'm getting ready to order some more parts from Summit and the kit is on page 9 of the featured products part of my Summit catalog.

Price is from $176.95 for the car and from $13.95 for the powersports and lawn equipment.

A Google search doesn't turn up much. Lots of anecdotal claims of very small improvements in fuel economy but nothing verifiable. Color me suspicious. What I'd really like to see is:

1) A dyno run with and without catalyst in place which tracked BSFC numbers at all RPM.
2) A constant highway-speed mileage test conducted on a closed course test track with and without catalyst.

For that matter I'd like to see those tests run with any of the various magic-sword devices supposed to improve fuel economy.

8)

Judging by the FAQ it seems to try and treat or remove certain organic elements and oxygen from the fuel by passing it through the catalyst which says it is made of several metals formed together in a proprietary process.

Could it be removing compounds or molecular material that could be inhibiting the compustion process?

The FAQ mentions removing oxygen, would removing oxygen enhance the fuels ability to mix with oxygen in atmosphere when the two are reintroduced?

"Horsepower TV" did that, as rbohm said. it worked on their dyno, ill see if i can find it on the youtube.
