Flooding Carb on Idle

If it's drifting up and down, you have a problem. It should be a steady 18 minimum. Once it is tight it will go up some and spike when you accelerate.

Sounds like a vacuum leak.

Ok...the bad news is...my carb was not so good to start with. After my son took it apart, he found JB weld in some corners and also at the hinge for the choke flap. He had already gotten a rebuild kit for me..but there doesn't seem much the point now!

I will see this first hand on Weds nite, but he and I arelooking for another carb now. I will be home for the weekend. I will be scouring the JY's over the weekend.

This really sucks!

There was somebody on here last week listed a good 1100 carb, make offer.

I;ve got a "saved" 1100 at the JY in Rosebud, MO...that I will pickup tomorrow. I plan to soak it overnite and rebuild it this weekend.

Uh....that and some stripped out and helicoiled threads here and there. I am done for the day and looked at carbs from 3 different JY's...none were good and I am tired.( Does turkey make you tired)

I will probably see about getting the carb I have rebuilt by PONY if the price is right. They do repair threads and all that...so I just dont know. I dont have the time with the car in my hands every day. So this may be the best way to get it running.

Don't bother getting the core you have rebuilt if it's already been helicoiled.
They probably won't do it, or worse, just take your money and give you something that will crap out again in a week.
You can probably get something off ebay for $50, plus a rebuild kit if necessary.
What kind of carb do you want?

I am still debating on the 1bbl or 2bbl ....no choice yet.
I poked around my stash, and I've got a dirty Autolite 1100 (snagged off a car headed for the junker) that looks nicely rebuildable, if you want it, it's yours for UPS (from 79606) and some beer bucks.

If you're interested, I'll open it up and make sure it's innards aren't trashed.
