I found a rebuild kit for my Holley-1904 on my 54' Ford 223 car. But the seller says it might not work for my carburator, since the kit is only listed as working for 1957-1962, but I can't really think of any difference in a carburator anyway, but I don't want to buy something I can't use anyway, or have mismatched parts...so, what do you think?

I need some help on this one...

This kit is in good shape, but its old, its from the late 70's or early 80's, but I was just wondering if it would fit or not, since its listed as being for a 1904, but just working for 57-62 model years, but I thought they was all the same...so...help me out here.

I'd call Holley direct and talk to their tech dept. I always get right through and they are always helpful. I had a 2043 on my 223, never heard of it, nobody had ever heard of it, parts stores would scratch their heads and tell me it was obsolete, called Holley and they had it in stock, But it was the same kit for the 1904 #3-92.

Holley made about a dozen similar carbs to the 1904 in the '50's. Some carbs had the spark control, some had auto transmission dashpot actuator, some had slightly different acellerator link hookup, some had a glass float bowl, some had metal float bowl, some had automatic choke, and some did'nt.
Regardless of what the options were, its a good bet that a 1904 rebuild kit could be used to rebuild any of those carbs, but you wont get the spark control valve in the 1904 rebuild kit. But you dont need it since the 1904 wasnt one of the models that had it.

You SURE about that? Seems I've seen SCV's on them...

I have taken off my 2 1904's after nothing but problems out of both of them.I have ordered 2 847s for my 215.I hope they do good,I drive my car daily and from what I have found to be true the 1904 is not a very reliable carb and does not work well at all on dual carb set-ups!There are of course exceptions to this, but that's exacty what they are exceptions as a whole the 1904's are good for leaking flooding and headaches!good luck.

Holley model 1904 does not have the spark control valve at the bottom on the right side but there is another holley that is otherwise nearly identical to the 1904 that do have it. I have both types. The only difference is the base part and the spark valve. Otherwise theyre the exact same with all interchangeable parts.
