Fuel line missing.......

I am finishing up my 170 out of my 62. I am missing the pump to filter fuel line as well as the filter to carb line. I have gone through all the most popular suppliers and unless I have over looked it I cant find anyone that supplies this pre-made. Does anyone know if someone is making these lines? Thanks for any help.

8) until 1965 i think, the fuel filter was part of the fuel pump. the line from the pump to the carb was the same on the 144-200 sixes up until the early 70's.

Thanks for the reply but my 62 model has a small canister style fuel filter that mounts on the same bracket as the coil. It has an odd shaped hard line from the pump to the filter and then another from the filter to the carb. The factory 62 manual shows this set up. The previous owner took all this off and installed an inline filter and then cut the top fuel line and installed another filter, this was to try and remedy a rusting dirty fuel tank. I tracked down the original filter set up and now find that I cant find the original lines. I really wanted some in stainless. Thanks

Just make your own fuel lines. =)

It's fun the first time, and it's good practice for bending tubing, you never know when you might need that skill again.

Ford had a whole bunch of different fuel pumps and filter setups back then...I know which one you're talking about, I've got the same manual - but my old '62 170 had its filter at the carb...go figure.

Seriously, I'd think you're better off bending your own. If you've never done it before (or if you have but it's been awhile), plan on doing it twice, but being really happy with the second results.

Yep, I suppose thats what I will have to do. I really wanted stainless lines but I suppose I will settle for metal for now, at least until I get it right and then I can use the metal ones for patterns. I have learned that a 62 model is a beast of its own, if it were a 63 and up I would be ok, but 62 is really odd. I have seen photos of Falcon 170s with the filter mounted on top of the fuel pump itself.
Another thing that is odd is the carb. I have a Holly carb, the original one that was on the car....the factory manual calls for a Holly carb and shows all the breakdowns etc., however, even in the manual they never refer to a Holly number, only the Ford number and on this original carb, was the original tag. Its a Fomoco tag with the ford number on a Holly carb, go figure. Thanks for the advise.

Yup, I got one of those fuel pumps with the built-in filter on purpose, figuring that it's the biggest filter I could get.

And that carb is probably a Holley 1909, a '62-only carb for Falcons. And there were two versions, one for the 144 and one with a slightly bigger throat for the 170.

And that's not even taking into account Ford's "empty bin" policy on the assembly line...so there's really no telling exactly what actually came on any given Ford.
