Fuel press. regulator mounting location.

The best place I can see to mount the fuel pressure regulator is 7 inches above the first exhaust manifold bolt straight in front of the carb. I can make it fit there, but I'm a little concerned about the heat rising from the manifold and the fact that it will be directly behind the top radiator hose feeling that heat too. But there will be outside air moving past it across the front air deflector and the fan should blow some heat away from it also.
Anybody who has a reg installed got any better ideas for a mounting location ? Pics anyone ?

I put it on the firewall, with a slight grade down to the carbs. Naturally, I used flex hose for this connection. But, that was with an electric fuel pump so the feed hose wasn't near the motor to start with.

Also, I packed the base of the pressure gauge with moly grease before installing. I knew this would rinse out with the fuel flow, but it eliminated air bubbles in the last little void up to the gauge.

The instructions say to locate the reg as close to the carb as possible, thats why this corner of the engine looked best and is workable. Also I am using a liquid filled guage and it screws into one of the outlet ports an the reg, so thats not a problem. My big concern is the HEAT at this location. I dont know if the location parameters are the same for electric as they are for a mechanical type. My setup is all mechanical. No electric.

I am trying to avoid vapor lock and keep the pressure below the point of pushing the inlet needle and float down when theres already enough gas in the float chamber.

It almost seems like the reg should be mounted as far away from the engine as possible to keep it away from the heat.

The winter mix reformulated gas boils at around 105 degrees F. So on an unusually warm day in winter, you could be running a little hotter, even though I am not running a thermostat in the gooseneck.

Still hoping others will provide input based upon where they have theirs mounted.
