I have a I6 223 EBP-6015-D running on a Ford Fairlane 1955. As far as I know the engine was assembled in '54.

It seems the Fuel Pump mounted on the engine is not the original one. Actually, the fuel bowl is facing up and it is supposed to face down :?

I check in the Shop Manual to get details about the right Fuel Pump to install. Things are not clear. There are several model (all facing down) of 2 actions pump.

Could you help me to identify what the right model.

Thanks

I also have a '55 w/223, my fuel pump includes a vacumn pump for the windsheild wipers and has no glass bowl. The part #in my C&G catalog is 4708-9350. If you don't have a double action pump and your wipers are powered by something else?then you would use #4208-9350, which is $30 cheaper. The website ishttp://www.cgfordparts.com .

Thanks for the usefull website.

Do you confirm your engine is the same as mine EDB. In the parts catalog, the fuel pump for a '54 or a '55 engine is not the same.

My Fuel Pump is a double action but the wipers are not connected to. The vacuum line is linked with the carburetor only and the wipers are connected to the manifold.

:?: I am pretty sure, the current Fuel Pump is not the original. Is there a risk to have the Fuel Pump installed in the opposite direction (fuel bowl to the top rather than to the bottom) ???

No risk at all, as long as the sealing gasket is OK. Some of the Falcon models came out like this.

Regards, Adam.

Where do I find "EDB"?
the fuel pumps are different, But I believe that either will work, with the difference being in the amount of flow, or vacumn produced.the only other consideration being length of the lever that works off the cam.
It's not unusual to find earlier year engines in later year cars, because of casting runs and demand.
If you are looking for a high point restoration, You'll have to research further. If, on the other hand all you want is a driver, go with the '55 dual action.(and even then, no judge is going to mark down the correct year pump)

Early overhead valve Ford sixes had the glass sedement bowl directly on top of the fuel pump. You can see one of these fuel pumps here: http://www.geocities.com/edwins63/I6ID.html. Look at the 215 motor with green valve cover and two glass bowl carbs. I am not sure what '55 used but it is likely that you do have the correct fuel pump.

Sorry, the link doesn't seem to be working. Google search 223 Ford six and click on the I6ID link.
