Going to do a 2bbl carb upgrade soon

I now have the money to do a 2bbl carb upgrade for my '68 200ci engine. I am going to buy this carb from Stovebolt. This website mentions a base adapter from Stovebolt. Is the base adapter a must? Also, is this the correct 2bbl adapter? I have no experience with carburetors so this upgrade is going to be interersting...

Thanks :D

The base adapter referred to on Albert Penello's website is the same as the Stovebolt adapter I show on my H/W Conversion webpage - Langdon calls it a 1 - 2bbl adapter mount.

The Clifford adapter is designed to replace the Ford flow-through adapter and facilitate mounting a 2bbl. You can use the Stovebolt adapter with or without the original Ford piece. Either way, you may have issues to deal with. See my webpage for details.

If you're looking for the easiest way to add a 2bbl, then IMO, the Clifford adapter is the best way to go. I believe you would need this adapter for your 68 engine (assuming the head has not been replaced). Bolt centers are 2 3/4" for the 1.5" manifold opening. Only use the adapter you listed if the bolt centers are 3 5/8".

You may want to consider shelling out an extra $10 for the electric choke version of the HW 5200 Tom is now selling. Eliminates having to route coolant through the carb to operate the choke.

Have fun! 8)
