Got the head off my 80 Stang.

About 99% sure it blew a head gasket.

I was suprised by was how clean everything was. It looks like the head gasket blew between 3 and 4 and between 4 and 5. Very light surface rust in combustion chamber on 3,4, and 5.

And it has a steel shim head gasket. I was curious whether it would have been a steel shim or composite on 1980.

And it looks like 2 guys might buy my 79 turbo Stang so between saved funds and money from the car I will have about $700.

It s a start.

8) Well now I am worried.

I run my finger down the cylinder wall and it has one heck of a ring land at the top. Its not just sorta worn, its a definate ridge. And it feels pretty large.

#1 is usually the worst. Would a ridge cutting tool take it off easily? If so, you could hone and re-ring.

The ridges seem to be on the drivers side so I am assuming that is the thrust side. I am worried that the ridges are too deep.

They usually feel deeper than they are.
