I went to pck up my car from my waste of time mechanic theif....

history: 3 weeks ago, when the engine wqas all in pieces, I said "hey, do I need a new Harmonic Balancer?"...he goes "no, it looks ok"

Guess what...when I go to pick it up, he says I need a new one...but the engine is already back together...so for an ADDITIONAL $40 labor plus part I can get one put on....

plus, the battery was dead dead dead.....


so I still dont have "spongebob" back....

anyone have a balancer they took off that is OK? I cant spend any more $$$

to install one, I have to remove the radiator..right?

Sorry, don't have a balacer handy, and it's still too cold and soggy to go out to the parts yard.
Yes, you need to pull the radiator, and you need a puller. But, why do you need to replace it? If it just slipped, you can live with it, and time the car by ear.
How about posting the jerk's name and location, and save someone else some heartache? :x

I saw the rubber was cracking around the balancer...

I guess its been that way a while. I guess I am pissed that he didnt tell me so I could provide him one while it was apart...


I have a puller...maybe I will attempt this at some point. good news is I can still comute wiht my wife...so "Sponge Bob" (trying out the name) will be a weekend crusier...and I hope this weekend

New 200 balancers on eBay regularly for about $55. Saw one the other day. Search under eBay motors, engines, then Ford 200.
